Alex Park, Vice President, Programming and Education Services, Shaw Communications Inc
Mr. Park began his career in cable television in the early 70's with the introduction of cable television in Alberta. As a television programmer, he was involved in the introduction of community access television and played a large part in its development and success over many years. His career changed in the early 80's when he moved into the world of independent television production in Toronto. His work focused mainly in the areas of entertainment and performing arts and included successful network productions for CBC, Global Television, The Sports Network, TV Ontario and access Alberta. He returned to cable television in the late 80's as Vice President Programming for CBC Broadcasting in Toronto and was involved in program and system development for cable television franchises developing in the U.K. An award winning television producer, Mr. Park developed prototypes for the introduction of interactive programming and on-line services for municipal governments. As Vice President, Programming/Education Services with Shaw Communications, Mr. Park is responsible for working closely with educators across Canada in the introduction of high-speed fiber networks, internet and cable modem technology, content development and system management. In addition, his programming responsibilities include corporate video production, support for the Shaw Broadcast Funds (Shaw Children's Programming Initiative and Shaw Television Broadcast Fund), as well as the re-launching of Shaw's Community Channels.
